This item arrived broken, boards were poorly nailed and detaching and the inside metal part of the door was bent.
Opened the box, got the mailbox out, looked at it, put it back in the shipping box and asked for a return label. So desappointed!!! I'm giving 1 star because I need to. It does not deserve any.

The mailbox is nice enough for the price, however, it was not packaged properly. The box has a large hole in the front, which resulted in three pieces of the mailbox to break off during shipping. We should be able to repair it, but it would be nice to get a new product that doesn't require repair.

Vandals wrecked my mailbox and our carrier was losing patience with it and me because it was falling apart. So, I repaired to Amazon, of course, and ordered the cedar box. It is a delightful device worth the purchase price. I would have been happier had it come with mounting hardware, instructions, and warnings. One warning would be that an offset screwdriver is essential, perhaps, to mounting. The cedar planking covers the mounting screws and mounting requires dexterity with an offset driver that has to be worked within the one inch gap between the cedar and the metal of the box. I haven't patience for such work and I couldn't find my offset driver but I could find my power drill. I drilled holes in the cedar at the points where I could access mounting screws. I recommend it and I think the box might have been built with those holes. The holes do not detract from the beauty of the cedar box. If you drill I hope you do a better job of aligning your drilled holes with the mounting points than I did. I was close enough but not as close as I would have liked. And, a warning: if your box is to be mounted on a post with a vertical projection behid the box it is likely that the box will not fit. I removed the two top roof planks, mounted the box, then sawed the planks to give access to the steel mounting pole. So, I have a fine new mail box mounted and ready just as the news reports the impending demise of USPS!
